Spokane Author John Bladek Rolls Up The Streets!

This weekend my fellow Spokane author John Bladek and I attended the Garland Street Fair along with other local members of The Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators. This is a national organization that nurtures writers and illustrators of children’s books. They offer workshops, a newsletter, and regional conferences and workshops in which writers can hone their craft.

John’s recent book Roll Up The Streets is a story about “Jake Machet, boy complainer, who has moved to a lousy town filled with creeps and an ever-present stink that no one else notices.” It is sure to be loved by school kids of all ages, in fact, one of John’s best reviews came from a 16 year old.

While sitting in the SCBWI booth at the fair after John left, two junior high boys picked up his book and began reading the first page. Heads together, they laughed and asked for bookmarks to take home and show their parents.

Congratulations, John, on writing a funny and engaging story!

The book is available anywhere books are sold or through the publisher Kane Miller.
